Who We Are
The mission of Leila Arboretum Society (LAS) is to preserve and enhance Leila Arboretum for all to appreciate horticulture and the arts in a natural environment. LAS was formed in 1982 to foster the revitalization and development of the arboretum. Today the arboretum, with more than 2,000 species of trees and shrubs, many beautiful gardens, and inspiring sculptures and fountains, is once again a “jewel” in our community. It is host to many special events, from weddings to concerts, but is enjoyed most simply for its natural beauty. LAS is also home to the Kaleidoscope Garden, an one-acre interpretive attraction. This garden is an educational, interactive, hands-on, fun-filled attraction for both the young and the young-at-heart.
What We Do
Leila Arboretum is a host to multiple special events that help us achieve our mission, (Festivus, Leilapalooza, Pumpkinfest, Weddings, and Graduations) bringing in visitors of all ages. We are also a destination for after- school outreach programs such as 21st Century furthering our reach into our community. We are a partner with the Goodwill Connects program employing area youth, mentoring them in a strong work ethic. Our 365 Urban Farm is open from May-October each year, offering veggies, eggs, herbs and other local goods. The Farm Stand accepts Double Up Food Bucks, Bridge Cards, WIC, and Senior Project Fresh. We also offer CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture and a Free Community Pantry that is open during the season.
