Who We Are
Mission: To advocate for the best interests of immigrant children, ensuring that they are treated with dignity, humanity, and fairness, while working to change the immigration system to protect their safety and well-being.
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and best interests of immigrant children who arrive in the United States, often unaccompanied. The center provides legal representation and advocates for policies that prioritize the safety, well-being, and human dignity of immigrant children. They ensure that every child’s voice is heard and respected within the immigration system, fighting to protect their rights and secure a stable future for them.
What We Do
The Young Center provides a variety of critical services to immigrant children, including legal representation and advocacy. The center assigns child advocates who serve as champions for unaccompanied children in immigration proceedings, ensuring that the children’s rights are protected and their voices are heard. The organization also conducts individualized best-interest determinations, recommending care, placement, and protection strategies that prioritize the child’s well-being. Additionally, the Young Center engages in policy advocacy, working to reform the immigration system to ensure that it treats children fairly and humanely. Through education, legal services, and systemic advocacy, the Young Center seeks to provide immigrant children with safety, stability, and a chance at a better future.
