Looking to volunteer with the family or a group of friends? Hoping to expand your knowledge on conservation efforts? Or maybe you just love some good ole fashioned competition! Whatever draws you in to this event - we'd love to have you!
Every year our Conservation Crew takes on the task of trying to remove as much Garlic Mustard as possible from the KNC property, but it is a never ending process and we need your help to get rid of even more! The idea is that you'll either sign up individually, or as a group of 4-5, and try to gather as much Garlic Mustard as you can in the allotted amount of time. After that time passes, we'll all gather back together to weigh every team's Garlic Mustard to see who removed the most.
Each participant will walk away with a 25% off coupon to the Trailhead Gifts & Bookshop located in the Visitor's Center and, if you're amongst the 'winners', you'll walk away with another prize, too!
Folks from of our Conservation Crew will be present as well as a Conservation Educator, so no prior knowledge is necessary to compete!
What is Garlic Mustard? Garlic Mustard is an invasive non-native biennial herb that is not consumed by local wildlife or insects. The roots of garlic mustard produce a toxin that kills soil fungi that many plants depend on and the seeds are teeny tiny that lead to it spreading rapidly.
