Family Health Center's Dental Day of Caring is an entire day of FREE dental services for uninsured residents in Kalamazoo County.  Dental support technicians or dental assistant students (clinical position) to provide sterilization technician support in the dental lab during the event. Year 1 dental hygiene students may also be able to assist in this position, depending on training.

This position involves the comprehensive sterilization of dental instruments.

Responsibilities include:

Disinfecting sharp instruments containing bodily fluids Loading instruments into the steam sterilization system for cleaning Unloading and packaging instruments for future use Ensuring instruments are properly sterilized according to protocols Please be aware that this position includes sharps instruments that contain bodily fluids

Responsibilities include:

Completing health histories Completing basic vital signs Coordinating with the supervising medical provider

Family Health Center's Dental Day of Caring is an entire day of FREE dental services for uninsured residents in Kalamazoo County.  Registration Runner (non-clinical position) 

Volunteer responsibilities consist of guiding patients between the medical and dental floors within the building, which includes the transportation of medical forms.  This position does require heavy physical activity and navigating stairs for the majority of the shift. 

Please note that this role requires significant standing, walking, and navigating stairs.
