Needs From: Volunteer Center of Greater Battle Creek and Kalamazoo

We are in need of individuals or groups to help furnish homes for refugees. Requires moving furniture from storage to home and helping set-up the home. This is an occasional, ongoing need as we welcome refugees to Kalamazoo. Vehicle with moving capacity a plus, but not required. 

Donations of furniture and household items welcome as well.

Volunteers are needed to assist refugees through transportation to appointments, stores, job interviews, and more. Transportation needed on an as-needed basis. This is invaluable support to provide to newcomers as they adjust to their new community and learn independence skills. 

 

Transportation volunteers are required to use their personal cars, with proof of active insurance and the completion of background checks. Mileage reimbursement is available. 

Individual volunteers or teams who walk alongside a resettled refugee family as they gain independence in Kalamazoo. Volunteers help with many needs ranging from transportation, community orientation, bus training, grocery shopping, ESL tutoring, and more. .    Bethany staff will provide training and ongoing support of volunteers.
