Who We Are
Founded in 2009 with the goal of closing the gaps in post-purchase support for low-income homeowners in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Community Homeworks’ programs are designed to help keep people in their homes and develop homeowner self-sufficiency while ensuring that their homes are safe, decent, and sustainable.
Mission: Empowering our low-income neighbors to maintain safe, sustainable, and dignified homes.
Vision: A community transformed by thriving families in sustainable homes.
What We Do
Our programs provide a comprehensive package of solutions for making housing affordable, comfortable, and secure. Programs are critical home repairs and education workshops on home maintenance and repairs.
Whether you want to understand the basics of how your heating or plumbing system works, or get some practical information on how to tackle basic light fixture repairs, or learn how to add value to your home with energy savings or cosmetic improvements, our Education Program has a class for you. Classes are offered every Tuesday at 6pm in person at Education Center (812 Bryant St), or you can tune in live on Facebook or Youtube. Click here to see our upcoming classes.
Our Critical Repair Program specifically focuses on issues that affect the health and safety of the household. It’s always best to call and discuss your home’s issue with our Office Assistant by calling (269)998-3275. Here are some examples of the types of issues we can address:
