First Day Shoe Fund

Mission: We provide new athletic shoes to students at Kalamazoo County public elementary schools at no cost.

First Day Shoe Fund (FDSF) is a local, grassroots initiative whose mission is to provide a unique service to children in the Kalamazoo area by distributing new shoes throughout the school year.

First Day Shoe Fund distributes brand new athletic shoes through local school districts twice a year – in March and again in September/October.  First Day Shoe Fund continues to help students in urgent need throughout the school year whenever possible.  Our goal is to support students by ensuring that they have comfortable and well-fitting footwear to help them run, jump, and play both inside and outside of school.
