Who We Are
Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity(KVHH) builds, rehabilitates, and repairs homes in and around Kalamazoo County in partnership with qualified families. KVHH began in 1983 and is 1 of more than 1,500 U.S. and 550 international affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International that coordinate Habitat house-building projects in over 3,000 communities around the world.
Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity strives to eliminate substandard housing locally and worldwide through building, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. Habitat advocates for fair and just housing policies. We also provide training and access to resources to help families improve their housing conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have an affordable, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
Our Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Our Mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Our homes are sold without profit and we provide affordable mortgages and repair loans to our homeowners. More than 1600 volunteers work with us each year.
What We Do
We build or rehab several homes each year and complete numerous home repair projects in partnership with our volunteers and our homeowners. Our staff site supervisors train and supervise volunteers on site. Our regular weekly volunteers are eager to share their skills. We welcome new volunteers to join us when they can or to consider joining a weekly volunteer crew.
We also operate the Habitat ReStore, another volunteer site that is open to the public. The Habitat ReStore sells new and used home building materials, home decor, appliances, and other merchandise for your home. Whether you are remodeling, redecorating, or relocating, remember the Habitat ReStore. We accept donations of new and used home building materials, furniture, appliances and much more. The ReStore’s profits help Habitat build, rehab, and repair homes in our community.
Whether you enjoy volunteering on a construction site or in a retail setting, we have a place for you. Join our Habitat family… Help build homes or volunteer at our ReStore.
