Centrica Journeys offers year-round grief counseling for children, teens, and their families who are hurting from the loss of a loved one. Grieving children can express and process their thoughts and feelings, learn healthy coping skills, and interact with others close in age. This grief counseling program is free and supported by donations from the community.
Professional grief support counselors train the volunteers as they begin their service and are actively involved in each session providing encouragement and support every step of the way.
Volunteers can assist in a variety of roles:
*Meal Support
*Group Co-Leader
*Greeter
*Preparation/Set Up
Journeys takes place the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of every month. Dinner is provided to the families, and children are divided by age for facilitated activities such as art, music, and interaction to share memories and learn how to cope with their forever-changed lives.
